What belongs on MyCollegePark

MyCollegePark is for useful, good-faith information about events and community activities relevant to College Park and the surrounding community. Listings should help a visitor understand what is happening, when, where, who it is for, and how to participate.

Be accurate and transparent

• Use a clear event title and description.
• Provide the correct date, time, and location.
• Identify important restrictions such as registration, cost, age, audience, or eligibility when relevant.
• Do not falsely claim affiliation with the City of College Park, UMD, another organization, or another person.

Respect privacy

• Do not publish another person's private contact information, home address, or other sensitive personal information without appropriate permission.
• Use public organizational contact information when possible.
• Use MyCollegePark Messages rather than publishing personal contact details when a public contact field is not necessary.
• Do not upload photos that create a serious privacy or safety concern.

Content that is not allowed

Do not use MyCollegePark for:

• spam, scams, deceptive promotions, fake events, or repeated duplicate listings;
• malware, phishing, unsafe downloads, or intentionally misleading links;
• credible threats, targeted harassment, stalking, or content intended to facilitate violence;
• unlawful activity or instructions primarily intended to facilitate unlawful harm;
• sexual exploitation or sexual content involving minors;
• publishing private personal information to intimidate, harm, or expose someone;
• content that infringes intellectual-property rights when you do not have permission to use it.

Commercial and promotional events

Legitimate public events, workshops, sales, openings, and promotions may be listed when they are relevant to the community and clearly described. MyCollegePark may distinguish paid promotional placements or sponsored content from ordinary community listings.

Photos

Photos should be relevant to the event. Do not use an unrelated image simply to attract clicks. When an event has no suitable photo, it is better to publish without a photo than to use misleading imagery.

Moderation and reports

Users can report problems or questionable content. Administrators may correct obvious formatting issues, request changes, reject submissions, remove listings, or limit accounts when needed to protect the usefulness and safety of the service.

Moderation decisions should focus on these rules and the quality of the community resource, not on whether administrators personally agree with the viewpoint of an otherwise lawful event.

AI recommendations

AI-assisted event suggestions may point out missing information, unclear descriptions, privacy risks, or presentation issues. These suggestions are advisory. They do not automatically determine whether an event may be published.

When in doubt

Ask: “Would this listing help a College Park resident understand and safely decide whether to attend?” If the answer is yes and the listing follows the rules above, it is likely a good fit.
