What Events We Include

Events we generally include

• community and neighborhood events;
• City of College Park programs and public meetings;
• University of Maryland events and student activities with a local audience;
• arts, music, theater, cultural programs, and exhibitions;
• museum, library, educational, and family programs;
• sports, recreation, outdoor activities, and community cleanups;
• classes, workshops, lectures, fairs, festivals, markets, and open houses;
• scheduled events hosted by local businesses when there is a genuine activity or experience.

Events we normally skip

• private personal events not intended for public discovery;
• internal administrative meetings with no public or community participation;
• ordinary business advertising, sales, or promotions with no scheduled event;
• online-only events with no meaningful College Park connection;
• duplicate listings;
• routine worship services, prayer meetings, religious instruction, campaign advertising, and routine internal political or religious activities;
• spam, misleading listings, or content that violates our Community Guidelines.

Audience restrictions are okay

An event does not need to be open to absolutely everyone. UMD-only activities, age-limited programs, neighborhood meetings, registered workshops, and similar events can be useful listings when the audience restriction is clearly stated.

Local relevance matters

Our primary focus is College Park and the surrounding community. We may include nearby events when they have a clear connection to College Park or are particularly relevant to local residents, students, or visitors.
